تَبَٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ ﴿١﴾

Tabaarakal lazee biyadihil mulku wa huwa 'alaa kulli shai-in qadeer

1Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent -

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًۭا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ ﴿٢﴾

Allazee khalaqal mawta walhayaata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu 'amalaa; wa huwal 'azeezul ghafoor

2[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مِن تَفَٰوُتٍۢ ۖ فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍۢ ﴿٣﴾

Allazee khalaqa sab'a samaawaatin tibaaqam maa taraa fee khalqir rahmaani min tafaawutin farji'il basara hal taraa min futoor

3[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?

ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًۭا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌۭ ﴿٤﴾

Summar ji'il basara karrataini yanqalib ilaikal basaru khaasi'anw wa huwa haseer

4Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَٰهَا رُجُومًۭا لِّلشَّيَٰطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿٥﴾

Wa laqad zaiyannas samaaa'ad dunyaa bimasaa beeha wa ja'alnaahaa rujoomal lish shayaateeni wa a'tadnaa lahum 'azaabas sa'eer

5And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ﴿٦﴾

Wa lillazeena kafaroo bi rabbihim 'azaabu jahannama wa bi'sal maseer

6And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.

إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًۭا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ ﴿٧﴾

Izaaa ulqoo feehaa sami'oo lahaa shaheeqanw wa hiya tafoor

7When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.

تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أُلْقِىَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌۭ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ ﴿٨﴾

Takaadu tamayyazu minal ghaizi kullamaaa uliqya feehaa fawjun sa alahum khazanatuhaaa alam yaatikum nazeer

8It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?"

قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٌۭ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ كَبِيرٍۢ ﴿٩﴾

Qaaloo balaa qad jaaa'anaa nazeerun fakazzabnaa wa qulnaa maa nazzalal laahu min shai in in antum illaa fee dalaalin kabeer

9They will say," Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allah has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'"

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿١٠﴾

Wa qaaloo law kunnaa nasma'u awna'qilu maa kunnaa feee as haabis sa'eer

10And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze."

فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًۭا لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿١١﴾

Fa'tarafoo bizambihim fasuhqal li as haabis sa'eer

11And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ ﴿١٢﴾

Innal lazeena yakhshawna rabbahum bilghaibi lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun kabeer

12Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.

وَأَسِرُّوا۟ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴿١٣﴾

Wa asirroo qawlakum awijharoo bihee innahoo 'aleemum bizaatis sudoor

13And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ ﴿١٤﴾

Alaa ya'lamu man khalaq wa huwal lateeful khabeer

14Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًۭا فَٱمْشُوا۟ فِى مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِهِۦ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ ﴿١٥﴾

Huwal lazee ja'ala lakumul arda zaloolan famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa kuloo mir rizqihee wa ilaihin nushoor

15It is He who made the earth tame for you - so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision - and to Him is the resurrection.

ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَمُورُ ﴿١٦﴾

'A-amintum man fissamaaa'i aiyakhsifa bi kumul arda fa izaa hiya tamoor

16Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًۭا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ ﴿١٧﴾

Am amintum man fissamaaa'i ai yursila 'alaikum haasiban fasata'lamoona kaifa nazeer

17Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ ﴿١٨﴾

Wa laqad kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fakaifa kaana nakeer

18And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَٰٓفَّٰتٍۢ وَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۭ بَصِيرٌ ﴿١٩﴾

Awalam yaraw ilat tairi fawqahum saaaffaatinw wa yaqbidn; maa yumsikuhunna illaar rahmaan; innahoo bikulli shai im baseer

19Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.

أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌۭ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ إِنِ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ ﴿٢٠﴾

Amman haazal lazee huwa jundul lakum yansurukum min doonir rahmaan; inilkaafiroona illaa fee ghuroor

20Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not but in delusion.

أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّۢ وَنُفُورٍ ﴿٢١﴾

Amman haazal lazee yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqah; bal lajjoo fee 'utuwwinw wa nufoor

21Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.

أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ ﴿٢٢﴾

Afamai yamshee mukibban 'alaa wajhihee ahdaaa ammany yamshee sawiyyan 'alaa siratim mustaqeem

22Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

Qul huwal lazee ansha akum wa ja'ala lakumus sam'a wal absaara wal af'idata qaleelam maa tashkuroon

23Say, "It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful."

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾

Qul huwal lazee zara akum fil ardi wa ilaihi tuhsharoon

24Say, "It is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered."

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ﴿٢٥﴾

Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa'du in kuntum saadiqeen

25And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ ﴿٢٦﴾

Qul innamal 'ilmu 'indallaahi wa innamaaa ana nazeerum mubeen

26Say, "The knowledge is only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner."

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

Falaammaa ra-awhu zulfatan seee'at wujoohul lazeena kafaroo wa qeela haazal lazee kuntum bihee tadda'oon

27But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, "This is that for which you used to call."

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ ﴿٢٨﴾

Qul ara'aytum in ahlaka niyal laahu wa mam ma'iya aw rahimanaa famai-yujeerul kaafireena min 'azaabin aleem

28Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ﴿٢٩﴾

Qul huwar rahmaanu aamannaa bihee wa 'alaihi tawakkalnaa fasata'lamoona man huwa fee dalaalim mubeen

29Say, "He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error."

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًۭا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍۢ مَّعِينٍۭ ﴿٣٠﴾

Qul ara'aytum in asbaha maaa'ukum ghawran famai yaateekum bimaaa'im ma'een

30Say, "Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?"

نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ ﴿١﴾

Noon; walqalami wa maa yasturoon

1Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe,

مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍۢ ﴿٢﴾

Maa anta bini'mati Rabbika bimajnoon

2You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman.

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍۢ ﴿٣﴾

Wa inna laka la ajran ghaira mamnoon

3And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted.

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍۢ ﴿٤﴾

Wa innaka la'alaa khuluqin 'azeem

4And indeed, you are of a great moral character.

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٥﴾

Fasatubsiru wa yubsiroon

5So you will see and they will see

بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ ﴿٦﴾

Bi ayyikumul maftoon

6Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil].

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ ﴿٧﴾

Innaa Rabbaka Huwa a'lamu biman dalla 'an sabeelihee wa Huwa a'lamu bilmuhtadeen

7Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٨﴾

Falaa tuti'il mukazzibeen

8Then do not obey the deniers.

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ ﴿٩﴾

Waddoo law tudhinu fa-yudhinoon

9They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you].

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍۢ مَّهِينٍ ﴿١٠﴾

Wa laa tuti' kulla hallaa fim maheen

10And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

هَمَّازٍۢ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍۢ ﴿١١﴾

Hammaazim mash shaaa'im binameem

11[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip -

مَّنَّاعٍۢ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ﴿١٢﴾

Mannaa'il lilkhairi mu'tadin aseem

12A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful,

عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ ﴿١٣﴾

'Utullim ba'da zaalika zaneem

13Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender.

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍۢ وَبَنِينَ ﴿١٤﴾

An kaana zaa maalinw-wa baneen

14Because he is a possessor of wealth and children,

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٥﴾

Izaa tutlaa 'alaihi aayaatunaa qaala asaateerul awwaleen

15When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ ﴿١٦﴾

Sanasimuhoo 'alal khurtoom

16We will brand him upon the snout.

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ ﴿١٧﴾

Innaa balawnaahum kamaa balawnaaa As-haabal jannati iz 'aqsamoo la-yasri munnahaa musbiheen

17Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ ﴿١٨﴾

Wa laa yastasnoon

18Without making exception.

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ ﴿١٩﴾

Fataafa 'alaihaa taaa'i fum mir rabbika wa hum naaa'imoon

19So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep.

فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ ﴿٢٠﴾

Fa asbahat kassareem

20And it became as though reaped.

فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ ﴿٢١﴾

Fatanaadaw musbiheen

21And they called one another at morning,

أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰرِمِينَ ﴿٢٢﴾

Anighdoo 'alaa harsikum in kuntum saarimeen

22[Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit."

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

Fantalaqoo wa hum yatakhaafatoon

23So they set out, while lowering their voices,

أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌۭ ﴿٢٤﴾

Al laa yadkhulannahal yawma 'alaikum miskeen

24[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person."

وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍۢ قَٰدِرِينَ ﴿٢٥﴾

Wa ghadaw 'alaa hardin qaadireen

25And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ ﴿٢٦﴾

Falammaa ra awhaa qaalooo innaa ladaaalloon

26But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost;

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

Bal nahnu mahroomoon

27Rather, we have been deprived."

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾

Qaala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum law laa tusabbihoon

28The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?' "

قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾

Qaaloo subhaana rabbinaaa innaa kunnaa zaalimeen

29They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَلَٰوَمُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatalaawamoon

30Then they approached one another, blaming each other.

قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَٰغِينَ ﴿٣١﴾

Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa taagheen

31They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

'Asaa rabbunaaa any yubdilanaa khairam minhaaa innaaa ilaa rabbinaa raaghiboon

32Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."

كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

Kazaalikal azaab, wa la'azaabul aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya'lamoon

33Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٣٤﴾

Inna lilmuttaqeena 'inda rabbihim jannaatin na'eem

34Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٣٥﴾

Afanaj'alul muslimeena kalmujrimeen

35Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

Maa lakum kaifa tahhkumoon

36What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَٰبٌۭ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾

Am lakum kitaabun feehi tadrusoon

37Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾

Inna lakum feehi lamaa takhaiyaroon

38That indeed for you is whatever you choose?

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

Am lakum aymaanun 'alainaa baalighatun ilaa yawmil qiyaamati inna lakum lamaa tahkumoon

39Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?

سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

Salhum ayyuhum bizaa lika za'eem

40Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾

Am lahum shurakaaa'u falyaatoo bishurakaaa 'ihim in kaanoo saadiqeen

41Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful.

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍۢ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Yawma yukshafu 'am saaqinw wa yud'awna ilas sujoodi falaa yastatee'oon

42The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able,

خَٰشِعَةً أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَٰلِمُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Khaashi'atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillatunw wa qad kaanoo yud'awna ilassujoodi wa hum saalimoon

43Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.

فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

Fazarnee wa many yukazzibu bihaazal hadeesi sanastad rijuhum min haisu laa ya'lamoon

44So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.

وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ ﴿٤٥﴾

Wa umlee lahum; inna kaidee mateen

45And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

Am tas'aluhum ajran fahum mim maghramim musqaloon

46Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾

Am 'indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon

47Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌۭ ﴿٤٨﴾

Fasbir lihkmi rabbika wa laa takun kasaahibil boot; iz naadaa wa huwa makzoom

48Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed.

لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌۭ ﴿٤٩﴾

Law laaa an tadaara kahoo ni'matum mir rabbihee lanubiza bil'araaa'i wa huwa mazmoom

49If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.

فَٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ ﴿٥٠﴾

Fajtabaahu rabbuhoo faja'alahoo minas saaliheen

50And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ ﴿٥١﴾

Wa iny-yakaadul lazeena kafaroo la-yuzliqoonaka biabsaarihim lammaa saml'uz-Zikra wa yaqooloona innahoo lamajnoon

51And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿٥٢﴾

Wa maa huwa illaa zikrul lil'aalameen

52But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.

ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿١﴾

Al haaaqqah

1The Inevitable Reality -

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿٢﴾

Mal haaaqqah

2What is the Inevitable Reality?

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿٣﴾

Wa maaa adraaka mal haaaqqah

3And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ ﴿٤﴾

Kazzabat samoodu wa 'Aadum bil qaari'ah

4Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ ﴿٥﴾

Fa-ammaa Samoodu fauhlikoo bittaaghiyah

5So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

وَأَمَّا عَادٌۭ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍۢ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۢ ﴿٦﴾

Wa ammaa 'Aadun fa uhlikoo bireehin sarsarin 'aatiyah

6And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍۢ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًۭا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۢ ﴿٧﴾

Sakhkharahaa 'alaihim sab'a la yaalinw wa samaaniyata ayyaamin husooman fataral qawma feehaa sar'aa ka annahum a'jaazu nakhlin khaawiyah

7Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍۢ ﴿٨﴾

Fahal taraa lahum mim baaqiyah

8Then do you see of them any remains?

وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ ﴿٩﴾

Wa jaaa'a Firawnu wa man qablahoo wal mu'tafikaatu bilhaati'ah

9And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.

فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةًۭ رَّابِيَةً ﴿١٠﴾

Fa'ansaw Rasoola Rabbihim fa akhazahum akhzatar raabiyah

10And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ ﴿١١﴾

Innaa lammaa taghal maaa'u hamalnaakum fil jaariyah

11Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌۭ وَٰعِيَةٌۭ ﴿١٢﴾

Linaj'alahaa lakum tazki ratanw-wa ta'iyahaa unzununw waa'iyah

12That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ ﴿١٣﴾

Fa izaa nufikha fis soori nafkhatunw waahidah

13Then when the Horn is blown with one blast

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ ﴿١٤﴾

Wa humilatil ardu wal jibaalu fadukkataa dakkatanw waahidah

14And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow -

فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿١٥﴾

Fa yawma'izinw waqa'atil waaqi'ah

15Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur,

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاهِيَةٌۭ ﴿١٦﴾

Wanshaqqatis samaaa'u fahiya yawma 'izinw-waahiyah

16And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.

وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌۭ ﴿١٧﴾

Wal malaku 'alaaa arjaaa'ihaa; wa yahmilu 'Arsha Rabbika fawqahum yawma'izin samaaniyah

17And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ ﴿١٨﴾

Yawma'izin tu'radoona laa takhfaa min kum khaafiyah

18That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ﴿١٩﴾

Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenihee fa yaqoolu haaa'umuq ra'oo kitaabiyah

19So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!

إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ ﴿٢٠﴾

Innee zannantu annee mulaaqin hisaabiyah

20Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ ﴿٢١﴾

Fahuwa fee 'eeshatir raadiyah

21So he will be in a pleasant life -

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ ﴿٢٢﴾

Fee jannnatin 'aaliyah

22In an elevated garden,

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ ﴿٢٣﴾

Qutoofuhaa daaniyah

23Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ ﴿٢٤﴾

Kuloo washraboo haneee'am bimaaa aslaftum fil ayyaamil khaliyah

24[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ ﴿٢٥﴾

Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo bishimaalihee fa yaqoolu yaalaitanee lam oota kitaaabiyah

25But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record

وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ ﴿٢٦﴾

Wa lam adri maa hisaabiyah

26And had not known what is my account.

يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ ﴿٢٧﴾

Yaa laitahaa kaanatil qaadiyah

27I wish my death had been the decisive one.

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ ﴿٢٨﴾

Maaa aghnaa 'annee maaliyah

28My wealth has not availed me.

هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ ﴿٢٩﴾

Halaka 'annee sultaaniyah

29Gone from me is my authority."

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ﴿٣٠﴾

Khuzoohu faghullooh

30[Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him.

ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ ﴿٣١﴾

Summal Jaheema sallooh

31Then into Hellfire drive him.

ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍۢ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًۭا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ ﴿٣٢﴾

Summa fee silsilatin zar'uhaa sab'oona ziraa'an faslukooh

32Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٣٣﴾

Innahoo kaana laa yu'minubillaahil 'Azeem

33Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great,

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿٣٤﴾

wa laa yahuddu 'alaa ta'aamil miskeen

34Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.

فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌۭ ﴿٣٥﴾

Falaysa lahul yawma haahunaa hameem

35So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍۢ ﴿٣٦﴾

Wa laa ta'aamun illaa min ghisleen

36Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;

لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطِـُٔونَ ﴿٣٧﴾

Laa yaakuluhooo illal khati'oon

37None will eat it except the sinners.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾

Falaaa uqsimu bimaa tubsiroon

38So I swear by what you see

وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

Wa maa laa tubsiroon

39And what you do not see

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ ﴿٤٠﴾

Innahoo laqawlu Rasoolin kareem

40[That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٤١﴾

Wa ma huwa biqawli shaa'ir; qaleelam maa tu'minoon

41And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Wa laa biqawli kaahin; qaleelam maa tazakkaroon

42Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.

تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Tanzeelum mir rabbil 'aalameen

43[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ ﴿٤٤﴾

Wa law taqawwala 'alainaa ba'dal aqaaweel

44And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,

لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٤٥﴾

La-akhaznaa minhu bilyameen

45We would have seized him by the right hand;

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ ﴿٤٦﴾

Summa laqata'naa minhul wateen

46Then We would have cut from him the aorta.

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰجِزِينَ ﴿٤٧﴾

Famaa minkum min ahadin'anhu haajizeen

47And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾

Wa innahoo latazkiratul lilmuttaqeen

48And indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous.

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾

Wa inna lana'lamu anna minkum mukazzibeen

49And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ﴿٥٠﴾

Wa innahu lahasratun 'alal kaafireen

50And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٥١﴾

Wa innahoo lahaqqul yaqeen

51And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٥٢﴾

Fasbbih bismi Rabbikal 'Azeem

52So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍۢ وَاقِعٍۢ ﴿١﴾

Sa ala saaa'ilum bi'azaa binw-waaqi'

1A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen

لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌۭ ﴿٢﴾

Lilkaafireen laisa lahoo daafi'

2To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ ﴿٣﴾

Minal laahi zil ma'aarij

3[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ ﴿٤﴾

Ta'rujul malaaa'ikatu war Roohu ilaihi fee yawmin kaana miqdaaruhoo khamseena alfa sanah

4The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًۭا جَمِيلًا ﴿٥﴾

Fasbir ssabran jameelaa

5So be patient with gracious patience.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًۭا ﴿٦﴾

Inaahum yarawnahoo ba'eedaa

6Indeed, they see it [as] distant,

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًۭا ﴿٧﴾

Wa naraahu qareebaa

7But We see it [as] near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ ﴿٨﴾

Yawma takoonus samaaa'u kalmuhl

8On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ﴿٩﴾

Wa takoonul jibaalu kal'ihn

9And the mountains will be like wool,

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

Wa laa yas'alu hameemun hameemaa

10And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ ﴿١١﴾

Yubassaroonahum; ya waddul mujrimu law yaftadee min 'azaabi yawma'izim bibaneeh

11They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children

وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ ﴿١٢﴾

Wa saahibatihee wa akheeh

12And his wife and his brother

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ ﴿١٣﴾

Wa faseelathil latee tu'weeh

13And his nearest kindred who shelter him

وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ﴿١٤﴾

Wa man fil ardi jamee'an summa yunjeeh

14And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ ﴿١٥﴾

Kallaa innahaa lazaa

15No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],

نَزَّاعَةًۭ لِّلشَّوَىٰ ﴿١٦﴾

Nazzaa'atal lishshawaa

16A remover of exteriors.

تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٧﴾

Tad'oo man adbara wa tawallaa

17It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ ﴿١٨﴾

W jama'a fa aw'aa

18And collected [wealth] and hoarded.

۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ﴿١٩﴾

Innal insaana khuliqa haloo'aa

19Indeed, mankind was created anxious:

إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًۭا ﴿٢٠﴾

Izaa massahush sharru jazoo'aa

20When evil touches him, impatient,

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ﴿٢١﴾

Wa izaa massahul khairu manoo'aa

21And when good touches him, withholding [of it],

إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٢٢﴾

Illal musalleen

22Except the observers of prayer -

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

Allazeena hum 'alaa Salaatihim daaa'imoon

23Those who are constant in their prayer

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ ﴿٢٤﴾

Wallazeena feee amwaalihim haqqum ma'loom

24And those within whose wealth is a known right

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ ﴿٢٥﴾

Lissaaa 'ili walmahroom

25For the petitioner and the deprived -

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٢٦﴾

Wallazeena yusaddiqoona bi yawmid Deen

26And those who believe in the Day of Recompense

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾

Wallazeena hum min 'azaabi Rabbihim mushfiqoon

27And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍۢ ﴿٢٨﴾

Inna 'azaaba Rabbihim ghairu maamoon

28Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾

Wallazeena hum lifuroo jihim haafizoon

29And those who guard their private parts

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ ﴿٣٠﴾

Illaa 'alaaa azwaajihim aw maa malakat aymaanuhum fainnahum ghairu maloomeen

30Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ ﴿٣١﴾

Famanib taghaa waraaa'a zaalika fa ulaaa'ika humul 'aadoon

31But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾

Wallazeena hum li amaa naatihim wa 'ahdihim raa'oon

32And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾

Wallazeena hum bishahaadaatihim qaaa'imoon

33And those who are in their testimonies upright

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾

Wallazeena hum 'alaa salaatihim yuhaafizoon

34And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ مُّكْرَمُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

Ulaaa'ika fee jannaatim mukramoon

35They will be in gardens, honored.

فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ﴿٣٦﴾

Famaa lil lazeena kafaroo qibalaka muhti'een

36So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],

عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾

'Anil yameeni wa 'anish shimaali 'izeen

37[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍۢ ﴿٣٨﴾

Ayatma'u kullum ri'im minhum anyyudkhala jannata Na'eem

38Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾

Kallaaa innaa khalaq nahum mimmaa ya'lamoon

39No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَٰدِرُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾

Falaaa uqsimu bi Rabbil mashaariqi wal maghaaribi innaa laqaadiroon

40So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾

'Alaaa an nubaddila khairam minhum wa maa Nahnu bimasbooqeen

41To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Fazarhum yakhoodoo wa yal'aboo hattaa yulaaqoo yaw mahumul lazee yoo'adoon

42So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًۭا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍۢ يُوفِضُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Yawma yakhrujoona minal ajdaasi siraa'an ka anna hum ilaa nusubiny yoofidoon

43The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.

خَٰشِعَةً أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾

Khaashi'atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillah; zaalikal yawmul lazee kaanoo yoo'adoon

44Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ ﴿١﴾

Innaaa arsalnaa Noohan ilaa qawmihee an anzir qawmaka min qabli any yaatiyahum 'azaabun aleem

1Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٢﴾

Qaala yaa qawmi innee lakum nazeerum mubeen

2He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,

أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿٣﴾

Ani'udul laaha watta qoohu wa atee'oon

3[Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾

Yaghfir lakum min zunoobikum wa yu'akhkhirkum ilaaa ajalim musammaa; innaa ajalal laahi izaa jaaa'a laa yu'akhkhar; law kuntum ta'lamoon

4Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' "

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا ﴿٥﴾

Qaala rabbi innee da'awtu qawmee lailanw wa naharaa

5He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا ﴿٦﴾

Falam yazid hum du'aaa 'eee illaa firaaraa

6But my invitation increased them not except in flight.

وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا ﴿٧﴾

Wa inee kullamaa da'awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja'alooo asaabi'ahum fee aazaanihim wastaghshaw siyaabahum wa asaarroo wastakbarus tikbaaraa

7And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا ﴿٨﴾

Summa innee da'aw tuhum jihaara

8Then I invited them publicly.

ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًۭا ﴿٩﴾

Summaa inneee a'lantu lahum wa asrartu lahum israaraa

9Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

Faqultus taghfiroo Rabakam innahoo kaana Ghaffaaraa

10And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا ﴿١١﴾

Yursilis samaaa'a 'alaikum midraaraa

11He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

Wa yumdidkum bi am waalinw wa baneena wa yaj'al lakum Jannaatinw wa yaj'al lakum anhaaraa

12And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

Maa lakum laa tarjoona lillaahi waqaaraa

13What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا ﴿١٤﴾

Wa qad khalaqakum at waaraa

14While He has created you in stages?

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا ﴿١٥﴾

Alam taraw kaifa khalaqal laahu sab'a samaawaatin tibaaqaa

15Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

Wa ja'alal qamara feehinna nooranw wa ja'alash shamsa siraajaa

16And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًۭا ﴿١٧﴾

Wallaahu ambatakum minal ardi nabaataa

17And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًۭا ﴿١٨﴾

Summa yu'eedukum feehaa wa ukhrijukum ikhraajaa

18Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًۭا ﴿١٩﴾

Wallaahu ja'ala lakumul arda bisaataa

19And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًۭا فِجَاجًۭا ﴿٢٠﴾

Litaslukoo minhaa subulan fijaajaa

20That you may follow therein roads of passage.' "

قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا ﴿٢١﴾

Qaala Noohur Robbi innahum 'asawnee wattaba'oo mal lam yazid hu maaluhoo wa waladuhooo illaa khasaara

21Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا ﴿٢٢﴾

Wa makaroo makran kubbaaraa

22And they conspired an immense conspiracy.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا ﴿٢٣﴾

Wa qaaloo laa tazarunna aalihatakum wa laa tazarunna Waddanw wa laa Suwaa'anw wa laa Yaghoosa wa Ya'ooqa wa Nasraa

23And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾

Wa qad adalloo kasee ranw wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa dalaalaa

24And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًۭا ﴿٢٥﴾

Mimmaa khateee' aatihim ughriqoo fa udkhiloo Naaran falam yajidoo lahum min doonil laahi ansaaraa

25Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.

وَقَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ﴿٢٦﴾

Wa qaala Noohur Rabbi laa tazar 'alal ardi minal kaafireena daiyaaraa

26And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

Innaka in tazarhum yudil loo 'ibaadaka wa laa yalidooo illaa faajiran kaffaaraa

27Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًۭا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾

Rabbigh fir lee wa liwaa lidaiya wa liman dakhala baitiya mu'minanw wa lil mu'mineena wal mu'minaati wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa tabaaraa

28My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."

قُلْ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًۭا ﴿١﴾

Qul oohiya ilaiya annna hustama'a nafarum minal jinnni faqaalooo innaa sami'naa quraanan 'ajabaa

1Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an.

يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًۭا ﴿٢﴾

Yahdeee ilar rushdi fa aamannaa bihee wa lan nushrika bi rabbinaaa ahadaa

2It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone.

وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةًۭ وَلَا وَلَدًۭا ﴿٣﴾

Wa annahoo Ta'aalaa jaddu Rabbinaa mat takhaza saahibatanw wa la waladaa

3And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًۭا ﴿٤﴾

Wa annahoo kaana yaqoolu safeehunaa 'alal laahi shatataa

4And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا ﴿٥﴾

Wa annaa zanannaaa al lan taqoolal insu wal jinnu 'alal laahi kazibaa

5And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie.

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًۭا ﴿٦﴾

Wa annahoo kaana rijaa lum minal insi ya'oozoona birijaalim minal jinni fazaa doohum rahaqaa

6And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.

وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًۭا ﴿٧﴾

Wa annahum zannoo kamaa zanantum al lany yab'asal laahu ahadaa

7And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger].

وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًۭا شَدِيدًۭا وَشُهُبًۭا ﴿٨﴾

Wa annaa lamasnas sa maaa'a fa wajadnaahaa muli'at harasan shadeedanw wa shuhubaa

8And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.

وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ ٱلْءَانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابًۭا رَّصَدًۭا ﴿٩﴾

Wa annaa kunnaa naq'udu minhaa maqaa'ida lis'sam'i famany yastami'il aana yajid lahoo shihaabar rasada

9And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.

وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

Wa annaa laa nadreee asharrun ureeda biman fil ardi am araada bihim rabbuhum rashadaa

10And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًۭا ﴿١١﴾

Wa annaa minnas saalihoona wa minnaa doona zaalika kunnaa taraaa'ilqa qidadaa

11And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

Wa annaa zanannaaa al lan nu'jizal laaha fil ardi wa lan nu'jizahoo harabaa

12And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.

وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًۭا وَلَا رَهَقًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

Wa annaa lammaa sami'nal hudaaa aamannaa bihee famany yu'mim bi rabbihee falaa yakhaafu bakhsanw wa laa rahaqaa

13And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًۭا ﴿١٤﴾

Wa annaa minnal muslimoona wa minnal qaasitoona faman aslama fa ulaaa'ika taharraw rashadaa

14And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course.

وَأَمَّا ٱلْقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًۭا ﴿١٥﴾

Wa ammal qaasitoona fa kaanoo li jahannama hatabaa

15But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.'

وَأَلَّوِ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

Wa alla wis taqaamoo 'alat tareeqati la asqaynaahum maa'an ghadaqaa

16And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision

لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًۭا صَعَدًۭا ﴿١٧﴾

Linaftinahum feeh; wa many yu'rid 'an zikri rabbihee yasluk hu 'azaaban sa'adaa

17So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment.

وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًۭا ﴿١٨﴾

Wa annal masaajida lillaahi falaa tad'oo ma'al laahi ahadaa

18And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone.

وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا ﴿١٩﴾

Wa annahoo lammaa qaama 'adul laahi yad'oohu kaadoo yakoonoona 'alaihi libadaa

19And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass."

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا ﴿٢٠﴾

Qul innamaaa ad'oo rabbee wa laaa ushriku biheee ahadaa

20Say, [O Muhammad], "I only invoke my Lord and do not associate with Him anyone."

قُلْ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا رَشَدًۭا ﴿٢١﴾

Qul innee laaa amliku lakum darranw wa laa rashadaa

21Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction."

قُلْ إِنِّى لَن يُجِيرَنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٌۭ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًا ﴿٢٢﴾

Qul innee lany yujeeranee minal laahi ahad, wa lan ajida min doonihee multahadaa

22Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge.

إِلَّا بَلَٰغًۭا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ﴿٢٣﴾

Illaa balaagham minal laahi wa risaalaatih; wa many ya'sil laaha wa rasoolahoo fa inna lahoo naara jahannama khaalideena feehaaa abadaa

23But [I have for you] only notification from Allah, and His messages." And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًۭا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾

Hattaaa izaa ra aw maa yoo'adoona fasaya'lamoona man ad'afu naasiranw wa aqallu 'adadaa

24[The disbelievers continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.

قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌۭ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا ﴿٢٥﴾

Qul in adreee a qareebum maa too'adoona am yaj'alu lahoo rabbeee amadaa

25Say, "I do not know if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period."

عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ﴿٢٦﴾

'Aalimul ghaibi falaa yuzhiru alaa ghaibiheee ahadaa

26[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍۢ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

Illaa manir tadaa mir rasoolin fa innahoo yasluku mim baini yadihi wa min khalfihee rasadaa

27Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers

لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا۟ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾

Liya'lama an qad ablaghoo risaalaati rabbihim wa ahaata bima ladihim wa ahsaa kulla shai'in 'adadaa

28That he may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ ﴿١﴾

Yaw ayyuhal muzzammil

1O you who wraps himself [in clothing],

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴿٢﴾

Qumil laila illaa qaleelaa

2Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little -

نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا ﴿٣﴾

Nisfahooo awinqus minhu qaleelaa

3Half of it - or subtract from it a little

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا ﴿٤﴾

Aw zid 'alaihi wa rattilil Qur'aana tarteela

4Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation.

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًۭا ثَقِيلًا ﴿٥﴾

Innaa sanulqee 'alika qawalan saqeelaa

5Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًۭٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا ﴿٦﴾

Inn naashi'atal laili hiya ashadddu wat anw wa aqwamu qeelaa

6Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًۭا طَوِيلًۭا ﴿٧﴾

Inna laka fin nahaari sabhan taweelaa

7Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا ﴿٨﴾

Wazkuris ma rabbika wa tabattal ilaihi tabteelaa

8And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا ﴿٩﴾

Rabbul mashriqi wal maghriibi laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fattakhizhu wakeelaa

9[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

Wasbir 'alaa maa yaqoo loona wahjurhum hajran jameelaa

10And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا ﴿١١﴾

Wa zarnee walmukaz zibeena ulin na'mati wa mahhilhum qaleelaa

11And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًۭا وَجَحِيمًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

Inna ladainaaa ankaalanw wa jaheemaa

12Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire

وَطَعَامًۭا ذَا غُصَّةٍۢ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

Wa ta'aaman zaa ghussa tinw wa'azaaban aleemaa

13And food that chokes and a painful punishment -

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا ﴿١٤﴾

Yawma tarjuful ardu waljibaalu wa kaanatil jibaalu kaseebam maheelaa

14On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا ﴿١٥﴾

Innaa arsalnaaa ilaikum rasoolan shahidan 'alikum kamaaa arsalnaaa ilaa Fir'awna Rasoolna

15Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.

فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًۭا وَبِيلًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

Fa'asaa Fir'awnur Rasoola fa akhaznaahu akhzanw wabeelaa

16But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًۭا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا ﴿١٧﴾

Fakaifa tattaqoona in kafartum yawmany yaj'alul wildaana sheeba

17Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired?

ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا ﴿١٨﴾

Assamaaa'u munfatirum bih; kaana wa'duhoo maf'oola

18The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled.

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ﴿١٩﴾

Inna haazihee tazkiratun fa man shaaa'at takhaza ilaa Rabbihee sabeelaa

19Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.

۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًۭا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًۭا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۢ ﴿٢٠﴾

Inna Rabbaka ya'lamu annaka taqoomu adnaa min sulusa yil laili wa nisfahoo wa sulusahoo wa taaa'ifatum minal lazeena ma'ak; wal laahu yuqaddirul laila wanna haar; 'alima al lan tuhsoohu fataaba 'alaikum faqra'oo maa tayassara minal quraan; 'alima an sa yakoonu minkum mardaa wa aakharoona yadriboona fil ardi yabtaghoona min fadlil laahi wa aakharoona yuqaatiloona fee sabeelil laahi faqra'oo ma tayassara minhu wa aqeemus salaata wa aatuz zakaata wa aqridul laaha qardan hasanaa; wa maa tuqadimoo li anfusikum min khairin tajidoohu 'indal laahi huwa khayranw wa a'zama ajraa; wastaghfirul laahaa innal laaha ghafoorur raheem.

20Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muhammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allah determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur'an. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allah and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ ﴿١﴾

Yaaa ayyuhal muddassir

1O you who covers himself [with a garment],

قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ ﴿٢﴾

Qum fa anzir

2Arise and warn

وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ﴿٣﴾

Wa rabbaka fakabbir

3And your Lord glorify

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ﴿٤﴾

Wa siyaabaka fatahhir

4And your clothing purify

وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ ﴿٥﴾

Warrujza fahjur

5And uncleanliness avoid

وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ﴿٦﴾

Wa laa tamnun tastaksir

6And do not confer favor to acquire more

وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْ ﴿٧﴾

Wa li Rabbika fasbir

7But for your Lord be patient.

فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ ﴿٨﴾

Fa izaa nuqira fin naaqoor

8And when the trumpet is blown,

فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ﴿٩﴾

Fazaalika yawma 'iziny yawmun 'aseer

9That Day will be a difficult day

عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍۢ ﴿١٠﴾

'Alal kaafireena ghayru yaseer

10For the disbelievers - not easy.

ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًۭا ﴿١١﴾

Zamee wa man khalaqtu waheedaa

11Leave Me with the one I created alone

وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًۭا مَّمْدُودًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

Wa ja'altu lahoo maalam mamdoodaa

12And to whom I granted extensive wealth

وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

Wa baneena shuhoodaa

13And children present [with him]

وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًۭا ﴿١٤﴾

Wa mahhattu lahoo tamheeda

14And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life].

ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ ﴿١٥﴾

Summa yat ma'u an azeed

15Then he desires that I should add more.

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِءَايَٰتِنَا عَنِيدًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

Kallaaa innahoo kaana li Aayaatinaa 'aneedaa

16No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate.

سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا ﴿١٧﴾

Sa urhiquhoo sa'oodaa

17I will cover him with arduous torment.

إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ ﴿١٨﴾

Innahoo fakkara wa qaddar

18Indeed, he thought and deliberated.

فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿١٩﴾

Faqutila kayfa qaddar

19So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿٢٠﴾

Summa qutila kaifa qaddar

20Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ﴿٢١﴾

Summa nazar

21Then he considered [again];

ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ﴿٢٢﴾

Summa 'abasa wa basar

22Then he frowned and scowled;

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ ﴿٢٣﴾

Summaa adbara wastakbar

23Then he turned back and was arrogant

فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ يُؤْثَرُ ﴿٢٤﴾

Faqaala in haazaaa illaa sihruny yu'sar

24And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others].

إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٥﴾

In haazaaa illaa qawlul bashar

25This is not but the word of a human being."

سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ ﴿٢٦﴾

Sa usleehi saqar

26I will drive him into Saqar.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ ﴿٢٧﴾

Wa maaa adraaka maa saqar

27And what can make you know what is Saqar?

لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ ﴿٢٨﴾

Laa tubqee wa laa tazar

28It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned],

لَوَّاحَةٌۭ لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٩﴾

Lawwaahatul lilbashar

29Blackening the skins.

عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ ﴿٣٠﴾

'Alaihaa tis'ata 'ashar

30Over it are nineteen [angels].

وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةًۭ ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًۭا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًۭا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣١﴾

Wa maaja''alnaaa As haaban naari illaa malaaa 'ikatanw wa maa ja'alnaa 'iddatahum illaa fitnatal lillazeena kafaroo liyastayqinal lazeena ootul kitaaba wa yazdaadal lazeena aamanooo eemaananw wa laa yartaabal lazeena ootul kitaaba walmu'minoona wa liyaqoolal lazeena fee quloo bihim maradunw walkaafiroona maazaaa araadal laahu bihaazaa masalaa; kazaalika yudillul laahu many yashaaa'u wa yahdee many yashaaa'; wa maa ya'lamu junooda rabbika illaa hoo; wa maa hiya illaa zikraa lil bashar

31And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ ﴿٣٢﴾

Kallaa walqamar

32No! By the moon

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ ﴿٣٣﴾

Wallaili adbar

33And [by] the night when it departs

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ ﴿٣٤﴾

Wassub hi izaaa asfar

34And [by] the morning when it brightens,

إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ ﴿٣٥﴾

Innahaa la ihdal kubar

35Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions]

نَذِيرًۭا لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣٦﴾

Nazeeral lilbashar

36As a warning to humanity -

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ﴿٣٧﴾

Liman shaaa'a minkum any yataqaddama aw yata akhkhar

37To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.

كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾

Kullu nafsim bim kasabat raheenah

38Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

إِلَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٣٩﴾

Illaaa as haabal yameen

39Except the companions of the right,

فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾

Fee jannaatiny yata saaa'aloon

40[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٤١﴾

'Anil mujrimeen

41About the criminals,

مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Maa salakakum fee saqar

42[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?"

قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Qaaloo lam naku minal musalleen

43They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,

وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾

Wa lam naku nut'imul miskeen

44Nor did we used to feed the poor.

وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾

Wa kunnaa nakhoodu ma'al khaaa'ideen

45And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٤٦﴾

Wa kunnaa nukazzibu bi yawmid Deen

46And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ ﴿٤٧﴾

Hattaaa ataanal yaqeen

47Until there came to us the certainty."

فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾

Famaa tanfa'uhum shafaa'atush shaafi'een

48So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.

فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾

Famaa lahum 'anittazkirati mu'rideen

49Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away

كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌۭ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌۭ ﴿٥٠﴾

Ka annahum humurum mustanfirah

50As if they were alarmed donkeys

فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍۭ ﴿٥١﴾

Farrat min qaswarah

51Fleeing from a lion?

بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًۭا مُّنَشَّرَةًۭ ﴿٥٢﴾

Bal yureedu kullum ri'im minhum any yu'taa suhufam munashsharah

52Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about.

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ ﴿٥٣﴾

Kallaa bal laa yakhaafoonal aakhirah

53No! But they do not fear the Hereafter.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ﴿٥٤﴾

Kallaaa innahoo tazkirah

54No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿٥٥﴾

Fa man shaaa'a zakarah

55Then whoever wills will remember it.

وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ هُوَ أَهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ﴿٥٦﴾

Wa maa yazkuroona illaaa any yashaaa'al laah; Huwa ahlut taqwaa wa ahlul maghfirah

56And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness.

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ﴿١﴾

Laaa uqsimu bi yawmil qiyaamah

1I swear by the Day of Resurrection

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ﴿٢﴾

Wa laaa uqsimu bin nafsil lawwaamah

2And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ﴿٣﴾

Ayahsabul insaanu al lan najm'a 'izaamah

3Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ ﴿٤﴾

Balaa qaadireena 'alaaa an nusawwiya banaanah

4Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ﴿٥﴾

Bal yureedul insaanu liyafjura amaamah

5But man desires to continue in sin.

يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ ﴿٦﴾

Yas'alu ayyyaana yawmul qiyaamah

6He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ ﴿٧﴾

Fa izaa bariqal basar

7So when vision is dazzled

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ ﴿٨﴾

We khasafal qamar

8And the moon darkens

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ ﴿٩﴾

Wa jumi'ash shamusu wal qamar

9And the sun and the moon are joined,

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ ﴿١٠﴾

Yaqoolul insaanu yaw ma 'izin aynal mafarr

10Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ﴿١١﴾

Kallaa laa wazar

11No! There is no refuge.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ ﴿١٢﴾

Ilaa rabbika yawma 'izinil mustaqarr

12To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.

يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ﴿١٣﴾

Yunabba 'ul insaanu yawma 'izim bimaa qaddama wa akhkhar

13Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌۭ ﴿١٤﴾

Balil insaanu 'alaa nafsihee baseerah

14Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ﴿١٥﴾

Wa law alqaa ma'aazeerah

15Even if he presents his excuses.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ﴿١٦﴾

Laa tuharrik bihee lisaa naka lita'jala bih

16Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾

Inna 'alainaa jam'ahoo wa qur aanah

17Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾

Fa izaa qaraanaahu fattabi' qur aanah

18So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾

Summa inna 'alainaa bayaanah

19Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ ﴿٢٠﴾

Kallaa bal tuhibboonal 'aajilah

20No! But you love the immediate

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَ ﴿٢١﴾

Wa tazaroonal Aakhirah

21And leave the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ نَّاضِرَةٌ ﴿٢٢﴾

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naadirah

22[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌۭ ﴿٢٣﴾

Ilaa rabbihaa naazirah

23Looking at their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌۭ ﴿٢٤﴾

Wa wujoohuny yawma 'izim baasirah

24And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌۭ ﴿٢٥﴾

Tazunnu any yuf'ala bihaa faaqirah

25Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ ﴿٢٦﴾

Kallaaa izaa balaghatit taraaqee

26No! When the soul has reached the collar bones

وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍۢ ﴿٢٧﴾

Wa qeela man raaq

27And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ ﴿٢٨﴾

Wa zanna annahul firaaq

28And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ﴿٢٩﴾

Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq

29And the leg is wound about the leg,

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ ﴿٣٠﴾

Ilaa rabbika yawma'izinil masaaq

30To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ﴿٣١﴾

Falaa saddaqa wa laa sallaa

31And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.

وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿٣٢﴾

Wa laakin kazzaba wa tawalla

32But [instead], he denied and turned away.

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ ﴿٣٣﴾

Summa zahaba ilaaa ahlihee yatamatta

33And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ﴿٣٤﴾

Awlaa laka fa awlaa

34Woe to you, and woe!

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ ﴿٣٥﴾

Summa awlaa laka fa awla

35Then woe to you, and woe!

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى ﴿٣٦﴾

Ayahsabul insaanu anyytraka sudaa

36Does man think that he will be left neglected?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةًۭ مِّن مَّنِىٍّۢ يُمْنَىٰ ﴿٣٧﴾

Alam yaku nutfatam mim maniyyiny yumnaa

37Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةًۭ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ﴿٣٨﴾

Summa kaana 'alaqata fakhalaq fasawwaa

38Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ﴿٣٩﴾

Faja'ala minhuz zawjayniz zakara wal unsaa

39And made of him two mates, the male and the female.

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْۦِىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ﴿٤٠﴾

Alaisa zaalika biqaadirin 'alaaa any yuhyiyal mawtaa

40Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَٰنِ حِينٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًۭٔا مَّذْكُورًا ﴿١﴾

Hal ataa 'alal insaani heenum minad dahri lam yakun shai'am mazkooraa

1Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍۢ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا ﴿٢﴾

Innaa khalaqnal insaana min nutfatin amshaajin nabta leehi faja'alnaahu samee'am baseeraa

2Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًۭا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ﴿٣﴾

Innaa hadainaahus sabeela immaa shaakiranw wa immaa kafoora

3Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.

إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَٰلًۭا وَسَعِيرًا ﴿٤﴾

Innaaa a'tadnaa lilkaa fireena salaasila wa aghlaalanw wa sa'eeraa

4Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍۢ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا ﴿٥﴾

innal abraara yashra boona min kaasin kaana mizaa juhaa kaafooraa

5Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur,

عَيْنًۭا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًۭا ﴿٦﴾

'Aynany yashrabu bihaa 'ibaadul laahi yafajjiroonahaa tafjeeraa

6A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًۭا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًۭا ﴿٧﴾

Yoofoona binnazri wa yakhaafoona yawman kaana sharruhoo mustateeraa

7They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.

وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًۭا وَيَتِيمًۭا وَأَسِيرًا ﴿٨﴾

Wa yut''imoonat ta'aama 'alaa hubbihee miskeenanw wa yatemanw wa aseeraa

8And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَلَا شُكُورًا ﴿٩﴾

Innaamaa nut'imukum li wajhil laahi laa nureedu minkum jazaaa'anw wa laa shukooraa

9[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًۭا قَمْطَرِيرًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

Innaa nakhaafu mir Rabbinna Yawman 'aboosan qamtareeraa

10Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."

فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةًۭ وَسُرُورًۭا ﴿١١﴾

Fa waqaahumul laahu sharra zaalikal yawmi wa laqqaahum nadratanw wa surooraa

11So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness

وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةًۭ وَحَرِيرًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

Wa jazaahum bimaa sabaroo janatanw wa hareeraa

12And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًۭا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

muttaki'eena feeha 'alal araaa 'iki laa yarawna feehaa shamsanw wa laa zamhareeraa

13[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًۭا ﴿١٤﴾

Wa daaniyatan 'alaihim zilaaluhaa wa zullilat qutoofu haa tazleela

14And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍۢ مِّن فِضَّةٍۢ وَأَكْوَابٍۢ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠ ﴿١٥﴾

Wa yutaafu 'alaihim bi aaniyatim min fiddatinw wa akwaabin kaanat qawaareeraa

15And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],

قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍۢ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

Qawaareera min fiddatin qaddaroohaa taqdeeraa

16Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًۭا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا ﴿١٧﴾

Wa yusawna feehaa kaasan kaana mizaajuhaa zanjabeelaa

17And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger

عَيْنًۭا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًۭا ﴿١٨﴾

'Aynan feeha tusammaa salsabeelaa

18[From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel.

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌۭ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًۭا مَّنثُورًۭا ﴿١٩﴾

Wa yatoofu 'alaihim wildaanum mukhalladoona izaa ra aytahum hasibtahum lu'lu 'am mansoora

19There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًۭا وَمُلْكًۭا كَبِيرًا ﴿٢٠﴾

Wa izaa ra ayta summa ra ayta na'eemanw wa mulkan kabeera

20And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.

عَٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌۭ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌۭ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍۢ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًۭا طَهُورًا ﴿٢١﴾

'Aaliyahum siyaabu sundusin khudrunw wa istabraq, wa hullooo asaawira min fiddatinw wa saqaahum Rabbuhum sharaaban tahooraa

21Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا ﴿٢٢﴾

Innaa haazaa kaana lakum jazz 'anw wa kaana sa'yukum mashkooraa

22[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًۭا ﴿٢٣﴾

Innaa nahnu nazzalnaa 'alaikal quraana tanzeelaa

23Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur'an progressively.

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾

Fasbir lihukmi Rabbika wa laa tuti' minhum aasiman aw kafooraa

24So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًۭا ﴿٢٥﴾

Wazkuris ma Rabbika bukratanw wa aseelaa

25And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًۭا طَوِيلًا ﴿٢٦﴾

Wa minal laili fasjud lahoo wa sabbihhu lailan taweelaa

26And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt Him a long [part of the] night.

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًۭا ثَقِيلًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

Inna haaa'ulaa'i yuhibboona 'aajilata wa yazaroona waraaa'ahum yawman saqeelaa

27Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day.

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا ﴿٢٨﴾

Nahnu khalaqnaahum wa shadadnaaa asrahum wa izaa shi'naa baddalnaaa amsaala hum tabdeelaa

28We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًۭا ﴿٢٩﴾

Inna haazihee tazkiratun fa man shaaa'at takhaza ilaa rabbihee sabeela

29Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا ﴿٣٠﴾

Wa maa tashaaa'oona illaa anyyashaaa'al laah; innal laahaa kaana'Aleeman Hakeema

30And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا ﴿٣١﴾

Yudkhilu mai yashaaa'u fee rahmatih; wazzaalimeena a'adda lahum 'azaaban aleemaa

31He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَٰتِ عُرْفًۭا ﴿١﴾

Wal mursalaati'urfaa

1By those [winds] sent forth in gusts

فَٱلْعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصْفًۭا ﴿٢﴾

Fal'aasifaati 'asfaa

2And the winds that blow violently

وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًۭا ﴿٣﴾

Wannaashiraati nashraa

3And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]

فَٱلْفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرْقًۭا ﴿٤﴾

Falfaariqaati farqaa

4And those [angels] who bring criterion

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا ﴿٥﴾

Falmulqiyaati zikra

5And those [angels] who deliver a message

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا ﴿٦﴾

'Uzran aw nuzraa

6As justification or warning,

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ ﴿٧﴾

Innamaa too'adoona lawaaqi'

7Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ﴿٨﴾

Fa izam nujoomu tumisat

8So when the stars are obliterated

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ ﴿٩﴾

Wa izas samaaa'u furijat

9And when the heaven is opened

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ ﴿١٠﴾

Wa izal jibaalu nusifat

10And when the mountains are blown away

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ ﴿١١﴾

Wa izar Rusulu uqqitat

11And when the messengers' time has come...

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ ﴿١٢﴾

Li ayyi yawmin ujjilat

12For what Day was it postponed?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ ﴿١٣﴾

Li yawmil Fasl

13For the Day of Judgement.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ﴿١٤﴾

Wa maaa adraaka maa yawmul fasl

14And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٥﴾

Wailuny yawma 'izillilmukazzibeen

15Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٦﴾

Alam nuhlikil awwaleen

16Did We not destroy the former peoples?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ ﴿١٧﴾

Summa nutbi'uhumul aakhireen

17Then We will follow them with the later ones.

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿١٨﴾

Kazzlika naf'alu bilmujrimeen

18Thus do We deal with the criminals.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٩﴾

Wailunw yawma 'izil lil mukazzibeen

19Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍۢ مَّهِينٍۢ ﴿٢٠﴾

Alam nakhlukkum mimmaaa'im maheen

20Did We not create you from a liquid disdained?

فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍۢ مَّكِينٍ ﴿٢١﴾

Faja'alnaahu fee qaraarim makeen

21And We placed it in a firm lodging

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ ﴿٢٢﴾

Illaa qadrim ma'loom

22For a known extent.

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَٰدِرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

Faqadarnaa fani'mal qaadiroon

23And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٢٤﴾

Wailuny yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen

24Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا ﴿٢٥﴾

Alam naj'alil arda kifaataa

25Have We not made the earth a container

أَحْيَآءًۭ وَأَمْوَٰتًۭا ﴿٢٦﴾

Ahyaaa'anw wa amwaataa

26Of the living and the dead?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَٰمِخَٰتٍۢ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءًۭ فُرَاتًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

Wa ja'alnaa feehaa rawaasiya shaamikhaatinw wa asqainaakum maaa'an furaataa

27And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٢٨﴾

Wailuny yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen

28Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾

Intaliqooo ilaa maa kuntum bihee tukazziboon

29[They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny.

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّۢ ذِى ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٍۢ ﴿٣٠﴾

Intaliqooo ilaa zillin zee salaasi shu'ab

30Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns

لَّا ظَلِيلٍۢ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ ﴿٣١﴾

Laa zaleelinw wa laa yughnee minal lahab

31[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame."

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍۢ كَٱلْقَصْرِ ﴿٣٢﴾

Innahaa tarmee bishararin kalqasr

32Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress,

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٌۭ صُفْرٌۭ ﴿٣٣﴾

Ka annahoo jimaalatun sufr

33As if they were yellowish [black] camels.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٣٤﴾

Wailuny yawma 'izil lilmukazibeen

34Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾

Haazaa yawmu laa uantiqoon

35This is a Day they will not speak,

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾

Wa laa yu'zanu lahum fa ya'taziroon

36Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾

Wailunw yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen

37Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾

Haaza yawmul fasli jama 'naakum wal awwaleen

38This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌۭ فَكِيدُونِ ﴿٣٩﴾

Fa in kaana lakum kaidun fakeedoon

39So if you have a plan, then plan against Me.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾

Wailuny yawma'izil lilmukazzibeen

40Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَٰلٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ ﴿٤١﴾

Innal muttaqeena fee zilaalinw wa 'uyoon

41Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

Wa fawaakiha mimmaa yastahoon

42And fruits from whatever they desire,

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾

Kuloo washraboo haneee 'am bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

43[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾

Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

44Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾

Wailuny yawma 'izil lilmuzkazzibeen

45Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾

Kuloo wa tamatta'oo qaleelan innakum mujrimoon

46[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٧﴾

Wailunny yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen

47Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾

Wa izaa qeela lahumur ka'oo aa yarka'oon

48And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow.

وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾

Wailunny yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen

49Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾

Fabi ayyi hadeesim ba'dahoo yu'minoon

50Then in what statement after the Qur'an will they believe?
